Feliz Dia de los Enamorados…..American-style

February 14, 2011

Well, the kids were thrilled to get back to their “American-style” Valentine’s Day.  I, however, missed the warm sunny Valentine’s Day of last year.  I can’t believe it has been one year since we were here:

This year, it was more snow pants, boots and winter-y Valentines!  Instead of bike riding, we were sledding! But the children were thrilled to have classmates to exchange valentines with as the homeschool class of last year was fairly small and the surprise factor was missing among the classmates. 🙂

We had a great day with lots of love. Granny Bea sent a care package that made ALL of us miss our South American adventure.  All the children grabbed a box of these to bring into school…as these are not a common sight here in Maine.

I like Valentine’s Day…but why????  I think it used to be for the romance of it…not so much any more. I think I like the following:

  1. the color red
  2. the color pink
  3. candy
  4. people in love
  5. hearts (almost kind)
  6. chocolate
  7. making Valentine’s decorations
  8. getting closer to the end of winter (probably not in Maine)
  9. memories of past Valentines’ days
  10. the children’s anticipation of the day

So, maybe there are some reasons. Here are some pictures of our Valentine’s day.

Looks like you had a lovely Valentine’s day! I probably was the only non-Mexican in Target buying Spanish inscribed heart candy! Enjoyed your memories from last year as well….thanks for sharing.
