Winter Break 2011…unplugged unfortunately!

February 22, 2011

Unfortunately, I can’t take any pictures because I do not have a camera.  Dan left his camera at home so I am hoping I can get my hands on his iPhone to capture some of the wonderful moments we are having here.

Kids are skiing up a storm even though the temps are hovering around 8-15 degrees.  That is wicked cold weather to ski in. But, we have learned….if you use hand warmers & foot warmers & wear a face mask & take breaks after a few runs, skiing in Maine is FUN!  Mac stays out all day long with his friends and they don’t seem to be bothered by the cold temps.  The littler kids get colder a little bit faster but still like to “do ONE more run” even if their fingers hurt and their toes are numb!

The change in routine is wonderful. New surroundings, new experiences, hanging with friends…what a treat it is to have a Winter Break…something we never had in Virginia but seem to be a standard for schools in the northeast.  Can’t complain about a break from school in the middle of the winter doldrums!

Will try to get some pictures up for my next post of the fun we are all having.  No internet at our rental so I am on the free WIFI at the workout facility while the kids take a swim.  It is a pretty cool scene to watch the kids swim while you see a chairlift go over the top of the swimming pool.  LOVE it!!

I highly suggest doing a snow angel in your bathing suit, jumping in the hot tub, snow angel, hot tub, and back again! Totally cleansing and invigorating!!!!
